Do I need to stop seeing my family doctor if I want to see a naturopathic doctor?
Patients can work with both a naturopathic doctor (ND) and a family doctor, and many people find that combining these two types of care gives them a more complete health plan. A family doctor focuses on diagnosing medical conditions and providing conventional treatments, while a naturopathic doctor uses a more wholistic approach to address all your health concerns. Because we use different treatment options—such as nutrition, acupuncture, therapeutic cupping, Bowen therapy, herbal medicine and individualized recommendation—our services often complement your family doctor rather than overlap. Many clients with more sensitive constitutions prefer naturopathic care because it offers gentler, personalized treatment that supports the body’s natural healing processes. Working with both an ND and a family doctor allows patients to benefit from the strengths of each approach.
Does OHIP pay for naturopathic visits? Are your services covered by work place health benefit?
At this time, naturopathic medical visits are not one of the services covered by OHIP. However, the majority of workplace health benefits do cover a large portion of your visits and lab testing. For your convenience, we will submit your health insurance claim for you at the end of each visit. For the finer details on what is covered please contact your Human Resources department to find out more.
What to expect at my first appointment?
Your first appointment is a 90‑minute visit designed to give us a complete picture of your health. Please bring any recent blood tests, imaging results, supplements, and medications so we can review everything together. During this appointment, we’ll discuss your main health concerns in detail and also explore other areas of your well‑being that may seem unrelated but often play an important role in your overall health. After our conversation, you’ll receive a detailed, easy‑to‑follow summary and a personalized treatment plan. We typically schedule a follow‑up visit within 1–2 weeks, and between these two appointments most clients begin to notice meaningful, observable improvements as they implement their treatment plans.
