Summer Garden Plants

Summer is in full swing.  Gardening centers are bursting with vibrant hues of annuals and perennials in various potted arrangements.   A word of caution, if you have young children at home, or if you have weekend grand babysitting duties, make sure you know your toxic plants.

You may wish to use a reputable gardening center where the staff know more about the plants they carry.  They would be able to tell you if the plant you are thinking of adding to your backyard garden is safe for children.

The following are some very popular plants sold in garden centers that could be toxic if a young child accidentally ingest it:
Foxglove
Lily of the Valley
Monkshood
Iris
Honeysuckle
Boxwood
