Fertility

Naturopathic medicine has a long history in improving couples’ fertility.  Although women are the primary focus in fertility treatments, female physiology is estimated to be responsible for 33% of infertility; while the physiology of the male partner causes another 1/3 of infertility.

Natural fertility does not involve extensive laboratory testing.  However, you will be required to keep basal body temperature and other fertility signs for a minimum of 1 menstrual cycle, ideally 3 menstrual cycles.

One factor your naturopathic doctor takes into consideration in helping modern couples conceive is the overall health and vitality of the future parents.  It is easier for a healthy and vital couple to have a successful pregnancy outcome than it is for a couple with either clinical or subclinical ailments.  Based on the information gathered at your initial interview, your naturopath will address any issues of poor metabolism, accumulation of waste/toxin, nutrient deficiencies, and hormone dysregulation.

A combination of herbal medicine, acupuncture, intravenous nutrient therapy, Bowen therapy, and/or dietary changes will be utilized at various points of each fertility cycle to bring about change.  Treatment schedule is weekly for most women, and monthly for men.

If you are undergoing conventional fertility treatments (IUI, IVF, cycle monitory, hormone medications), naturopathic therapies can help increase your chances  of conceiving and minimize unwanted side effects of fertility drugs.  Your treatments will be modified to satisfy any requirements by fertility specialists.
